A shooting on a high school campus in Winder, Georgia, left several people dead and injured before a suspect was arrested Wednesday — according to the county sheriff.
At a news conference, the sheriff said two people were killed, though local reports indicate as many as four were killed. Those numbers are expected to be updated throughout the day — another news conference has been scheduled for later, the sheriff said.

Barrow County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an active shooter at the school around 9:30 a.m., according to the sheriff. Jud Smith.
Chilling aerial footage from WSB-TV showed a heavy police presence and at least five ambulances on the scene of Apalachee High School at 10:30 a.m. local time — and two medical helicopters were seen transporting patients.
Police responded with force, evacuating students to the school’s athletic field.
FBI special agents also stepped forward to assist local authorities, according to a department spokesman.
The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that once the scene was secured, students were finally released around 11:30 a.m. and parents were allowed to pick them up. Other schools in the area have also gone into “soft lockdown” as an extra precaution.
Governor of Georgia. Brian Kemp said in a statement that he has mobilized all state resources and is teaming up with local, state and federal agencies to address the situation and move forward.
No suspects were immediately identified and no motive was released.
Apalachee High is located in Winder, a city in Barrow County, about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta.
