Joe Biden condemned yesterday Tuesday the bomb attack in Poltava from central Ukrainecalling it “pitiful”.
“This attack is a tragic reminder of (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s continued and outrageous efforts to crush the will of a free people,” Biden said, according to a press release.
The US president assured that his administration “will continue” to support Ukraine, in particular by providing it with “air defense systems and the capabilities it needs” for its defense.
At least 51 people were killed and 206 injured, according to the latest toll from Kiev.
Several hours after the attack, Ukraine’s ground forces confirmed that the Russian strike killed servicemen at the military institute in the city of Poltava.
In the Telegram announcement, the military said an investigation was underway to determine whether enough was done to protect personnel at the training center hit by the missile.
He added that measures to ensure security at military installations would be increased.
