Matthew GaudreauHis death is inspiring generosity in others… with many people donating thousands to his widow and soon-to-be-born son following his tragic death on Thursday.
ONE GoFundMe was started in honor of the NHL standout’s brother Johnny Gaudreau …with all proceeds going to his wife Madeline — and has already raised close to $400,000.
The fundraiser’s description explains that the money will be used to ease the financial burden caused by Matthew’s sudden death… though, of course, they admit that no amount of money will ease the family’s pain.
Part of those expenses will be a baby – named in the fundraiser as Trip — which, as we said, is expected to be born in december.
As we reported… Matthew and his brother Johnny were cycling on a New Jersey road when police say a man named Sean Higgins hit and killed the brothers as they tried to overtake another car.
Higgins had his first court appearance Friday. He is charged with two counts of death by car crash – and cops allege he told them he had five or six beers before the fatal accident.
As for the Gaudreaus…they’re obviously still reeling from the loss – and Johnny’s wife has released some emotional social media posts on Saturday, thanking the late star for the best years of his life and applauding him for being a great father.
Matthew was 29 and Johnny was 31.
