Four people, including a child, were killed and at least 28 injured after a Russian drone attack in the northeastern city of Kharkiv.
In particular, Russia struck an apartment building and a children’s playground, killing them
“The occupiers killed a child on the playground,” Ihor Terekhov said on Telegram.
Three other people died in a 12-story apartment building that caught fire as a result of the attack, he added.
A video of the scene, sent by the head of the presidential office Andriy Yermak, shows huge flames and thick black smoke rising from the upper floors of the building.
“The Russians attacked civilians again,” Yermak said in a Telegram post.
Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, and the surrounding area have been the target of Russian attacks, mainly with highly destructive guided bombs.
The president Volodymyr Zelensky After today’s attack, he again appealed to Western allies to allow Ukraine to carry out long-range strikes against Russian military air bases.
“The attack… would not have happened if our defense forces had the ability to destroy Russian warplanes at their bases,” Zelensky said in a post on the Telegram app.
Russia denies it is deliberately targeting civilians, but thousands of people were killed and injured by its attacks during its full-scale invasion of Ukraine two and a half years ago.
