In particular:
1. From today, 30 August, all movements of sheep and goats for fattening, breeding, as well as cattle from farms healthily linked to sheep and goat farms, whether housed on the same plot or housed on different plots but using the same staff, vehicles or common equipment are permitted throughout the country, except and within the EPs of Trikala, Larissa, Karditsa, Magnesia, Rodopi, Drama, West Attica, Heraklion, Corinth, Aitoloakarnania and Ilia and the areas that have been designated as surveillance zones and other prohibited zones.
2. From 2 September, the movement of sheep and goats from summer pastures located in other prohibited zones to stable facilities outside them is permitted, under terms and conditions to be determined by the competent veterinary authorities.
3. The movements for the massacre of animals are prohibited inside and outside the protection and surveillance zones in the PEs of Trikala, Larissa, Karditsa, Rodopi, Drama, West Attica, Heraklion, Corinth, Aitoloakarnania and Ilia, unless the carcasses are subjected to heat treatment.
In the remaining PE areas of the country, the movement of animals for slaughter is permitted with strict application of biosecurity measures for both means of transport and personnel. Animals are slaughtered in PE slaughterhouses or in the nearest slaughterhouse with specific breeding.
Slaughterhouse managers ensure strict compliance with hygiene rules and the implementation of cleaning and disinfection programs (facilities, equipment and vehicles)
The competent veterinary authorities, in the context of the control and eradication of small ruminant plague, continue systematically, in accordance with the emergency plan, to carry out clinical examinations on sheep and goat farms and to carry out selective sampling with risk analysis, in the disease protection and surveillance zones.
On September 6, the General Directorate of Veterinary Medicine and the competent veterinary authorities will reassess the epidemiological data of the epizootic and determine targeted actions to control and eradicate the disease.
