There has been a change in leadership at Polestar.
The Swedish high-performance electric vehicle brand was named on Wednesday industry veteran Michael Lohscheller as its CEO.
He replaces Thomas Ingenlath, who stepped down after leading Polestar since its inception as an electric vehicle brand in 2017.
Lohscheller, who officially begins his new role on October 1, has previously served as head of Vinfast, Opel and Nikola. Polestar said he brings experience in “navigating competitive markets and scaling businesses,” which is exactly what the brand needs as it looks to grow its store count around the world and substantially increase deliveries from the 54,626 units expected to be delivered in 2023.

Polestar just last week called Philipp Römers as its head of design. Römers was previously head of exterior design at Audi, where he was responsible for the new A6 E-Tron and Q6 E-Tron electric vehicles.
Polestar also appointed Winfried Vahland as its president in June. He has held several senior positions at the Volkswagen Group, including head of Skoda. He was also head of VW Group North America. for two weeksduring the automaker’s heyday diesel emissions scandal. Prior to joining Polestar, Vahland served on the board of Volvo from 2019 to 2024.
