Professor of the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics, Christos Bouras, was today re-elected rector of the University of Patras, during the Board of Directors meeting.
As the re-elected rector stated in his statements, “the elections showed the academic community as the winner and this reflects my conviction that Elections are not a contest for the dominance of one person or group, but a process that strengthens the cooperation and unity of all members of the community.”
“The Academy is the real winner”
He also said that “the academic community is the true winner, because through the electoral process the principles of democracy, transparency and participation are promoted”, adding: “Every vote, every debate, every idea expressed during the elections contributes to shaping a stronger society, a more united university and one more determined to move forward.”
Furthermore, Christos Bouras noted that “our main objective is to create a university that is a pioneer in scientific and technological development, encourages innovation and is a model of respect for diversity and equality.”
At the same time, he continued, “it will promote critical thinking, research progress and creativity, and support students, faculty and staff in their unbridled pursuit of knowledge and truth.”
