Meteorologists warn of a marathon of heat, which could last up to 15 days, as according to forecasts the mercury will continue to rise, reaching over 40 – up to 42 degrees Celsius.
EMY Director Theodoros Kolidas, with his post on X, explains:
“Until Saturday, although the winds will weaken, the melting wedge in the Aegean will remain and temperatures in the east will be at high but relatively tolerable levels, especially in terms of minimum values. Of course, at a local level, temperatures of 40 to 41°C will not be lacking in the interior of mainland Greece and in areas not affected by the sea breeze,” says Thodoris Kolidas.
“From a deeper perspective, there is a tendency for hot gas masses located in the west, but also in the east of the country, to cover many areas, which will result in a further increase in mercury. This situation will be reassessed next weekend.”

Weather: Prolonged heat on the 2nd 10th days of July – 6 degrees above normal temperature
On his side, Clearchos Marousakiswith your Facebook post asks “leave aside for the next 10 to 15 days activities that overload the human body”.
“We are not talking about extreme heat, but as we emphasize every summer, heat works cumulatively to overload the human body and long duration leaves the human body quite tired and not only”, he emphasizes.
Meteorologist Yiannis Kallianos also posting on Facebook, says the high temperatures will continue until around July 22.
“As far as we can see from the depth of the planned tunnel, neither dew nor rain are visible. If we add to this whole scenario the meltemias and take into account the intense drought that preceded it, we understand that the conditions will not only not be pleasant, but on the contrary they will also be very dangerous, as the risk of fire will be very high and for many days.”
Meteo’s “Bell”: The hot charge on the body is a threat
As Meteo reports, very high temperatures, such as those affecting our country since the beginning of the week, represent a significant threat to human health due to the heat load caused to the human body.
The degree and danger of this load depend, in addition to temperature, humidity, wind and ambient radiation, but also on personal parameters (sex, age, weight, height, level of clothing and physical activity).
Taking into account all relevant factors, the HEAT-ALARM biometeorological alert system issues warnings in each regional unit of the country for days when heat stress could lead to serious health problems.
