A woman is admitted to the intensive care unit after being attacked by wolves while running in an animal park near Paris, French media reported.
They say the 36-year-old victim – who was staying in accommodation in Thoiry Park – entered the main car-only safari area on Sunday morning.
She was attacked three arctic wolves and suffered serious bites on the neck, back and one leg.
O Thoiry, about 40 kilometers west of Paris, it is one of its most popular wildlife parks from France. Around 800 animals raised there can roam freely, while visitors watch them from the safety of their vehicles.
The park offers accommodation near wolf and bear sanctuaries, with the sanctuary area protected by electric fences and moats, reports news site France Info.
The investigation is ongoing
It is unclear why the woman entered the car-only safari zone. Park authorities have not commented so far.
“We don’t know at this point if the guest made a mistake or if there was a problem with the number plates,” an unnamed police source told Le Parisien newspaper.
The woman was rescued after park staff heard her screams as she was being attacked and was taken to a nearby hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
