Julia Louis-Dreyfus disagrees with his former co-star Jerry Seinfeld about comedy becoming too politically correct — saying that stance often set off alarm bells for her.
The actress sat down for an interview with New York Times published on Saturday, where she was asked about comments her longtime friend Jerry Seinfeld made… when he criticized the “far left” for ruining comedy television.
JLD says she’s not at all aligned with Seinfeld… saying that certain comedies and dramas from years ago simply don’t cut it under modern scrutiny anymore — and being sensitive to that change in taste isn’t a problem.
Louis-Dreyfus adds: “When I hear people starting to complain about political correctness – and I understand why people might recoil – but for me that’s a warning sign, because sometimes it means something else. I believe that being aware of certain sensitivities doesn’t It’s a bad thing. I don’t know how else to say it.”

It’s worth noting… Julia doesn’t name Jerry here – but the interviewer mentioned Seinfeld in the question, so it’s a pretty direct contradiction to what Seinfeld said in April.
Julia expanded on her thoughts in a different part of the interview – conducted 11 days after her initial comments – expanding further on how people’s views have changed, which has led to greater sensitivity towards the feelings of others.
BTW… Julia is a pretty hardcore Democrat – she even hosted the DNC for an event a few years ago, so it makes sense that she’s not upset about all the PC attitudes towards comedy.
We reached out to Jerry’s team…so far, no response.
