Katerina Stefanidis will be present for the sixth time in her career in a European Championship final, having surpassed 4.50m in the pole vault qualification.
Stefanidi had decided with her coach, Mitchell Krier, that she would start the race at 4.50m, which ended up being what qualified her for Monday’s final.
The Olympian was present in both 2022 in Munich and 2018 in Berlin, where she reached the final and was not classified.
“I felt really good. It’s still early in the season. Obviously we’re looking at the Olympic Games, here we want to continue the progress we’ve made so far and achieve a record this year.”Stefanidi said.
“In Ostrava, ten days ago, I was very close to 4.74m. a time I have seen several times this year. I think the Englishwoman is the big favorite, she has very beautiful heels. However, she jumped very well and Moser, the valve, which is deep, will favor her”.
