The fire that occurred today, Saturday afternoon, was partially controlled in the Iapili area, Kos.
The fire broke out in low vegetation, in an area with scattered houses, while 112 sent an alert message to residents earlier to remain on standby.
However, the immediate intervention of firefighters, aerial vehicles and civil protection forces resulted in the containment and timely treatment of the fire.

A total of 27 firefighters were mobilized to extinguish the fire with 1 group of pedestrians, 10 vehicles, 3 aircraft and a helicopter.
In addition, volunteers and five project machines provided by the municipality of Kos and the S. Aegean region contributed to the creation of fire zones.
