Fill the grave and cancel the funeral… Adam Silver says that despite all the perceived doom and gloom surrounding the NBA’s current negotiations with TNT – negotiations between the sides are NOT dead yet.
The Association’s commissioner made it clear outside Thursday’s state dinner at the White House in D.C. that he and his organization. are still very open to striking a new deal with TNT – despite reports that the parties are far apart.
Silver didn’t go into detail about where exactly each side stands… but did say, “We’re all still talking.”
“Who knows how this will work?” he added.
TNT has long held the rights to NBA games… but after failing to secure an extension with the Silver League during an exclusive 45-day window earlier this year – there is a growing sense that the Association will have a new dance partner, or partners, soon.
Reportedly, NBC, Disney and Amazon are interested in taking responsibility with TNT appearing to disappear.
If and when a deal with the network is not reached – the big concern among basketball fans is the future of the hit studio show, “Inside the NBA.”
For years, Ernesto Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny “The Jet” Smith It is Carlos Barkley have been entertaining fans before, after and during the show’s games… and many wonder if they would continue to do so if TNT and the NBA were no longer partners.
Silver, however, didn’t seem too worried about this possible outcome… saying he fully expects the dream team to stay together no matter what.
For now, TNT and the NBA are locked in for one more season… but after that – apparently no one knows where things will go.
