Roger Goodell I just approached Harrison Butker…and he didn’t take a stance on it one way or another, opting to simply praise the NFL’s “diversity of opinions.”
The Chiefs kicker’s polarizing speech at Benedictine College came at the end of Goodell’s chat with members of the media Wednesday at the Spring League Meeting in Nashville… when a reporter wondered if the NFL commissioner had any more thoughts on the subject.

Many, of course, expected Goodell to admonish Butker — after critics called the KC star’s words anti-gay and misogynistic.
But Goodell kept things short and sweet in his response… responding simply: “We have over 3,000 players. We have executives across the league. They have a diversity of opinions and thoughts, just like America. I think that’s something We have a treasure and I think that’s ultimately part of what makes us a better society.”
He then stated that the league will not “go much further” than a statement that NFL Chief Diversity Officer Jonathan Beane issued last week … which said: “(Butker’s) views are not those of the NFL as an organization. The NFL is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger.”

For his part, Butker – who participated in team activities hosted by the Chiefs on Wednesday morning – has yet to speak publicly after all the reaction he received in the speech.
