Professional fighter John ‘Bad Bones’ Klinger – who competed in Westside Xtreme Wrestling and TNA, among other promotions – passed away just days after his last fight in the ring. He was only 40 years old.
wXw made the tragic announcement on Monday. Klinger’s cause of death has not been released.
“We wish his family and friends strength during this difficult time,” the wrestling promotion said.
This heartbreaking twist comes after Klinger’s match on May 11… when he fought the former WWE star Flash Morgan Webster for the Primetime wrestling event.
Webster says Klinger would retire soon.
“I only fought him 9 days ago,” said Webster, “I was talking to him in Poland after the match about how he was going to retire in September and I was happy with what he had achieved and happy to walk away on his own terms. .”
“Life can be so cruel. Rest in peace, John.”
Bad Bones began his wrestling career 20 years ago and has entered the ring for several promotions around the world, including wXw, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and Evolve.
The German native has held numerous titles, including the wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship three times, and has won multiple championships.
Klinger was named one of Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s Top 500 Wrestlers (271 to be exact) in 2019.
