Johnson Magic claims he has no idea who the next Lakers coach will be… but he definitely knows who WON’T be – Magic Johnson – because the Hall of Famer says TMZ Sports Those days are long gone.
The Purple and Gold are currently without a coach after breaking up with Darvin Ham after his second season in charge… and when we spoke to the legend last week, he declined to speculate on who could fill the role he briefly held three decades ago.
“I couldn’t tell you,” Magic said when asked about the Beverly Hills spot. “It’s up to the Lakers and Jeanie (Bus) It is Rob Pelinka. I hope they get a good one, though.”
Remember, Magic had a cup of coffee as Lakers head coach… taking over Randy PfundIt is Bill Bertka at the end of the 1994 season.
Although things started off solidly, things fell apart and Magic announced he would step down from his role at the end of the season… going 5-11 overall.
Magic would then return to play for the Lakers… and never coach again.
So would the 64-year-old consider another chance? Yes No.
Or as Magic said – “No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. But thank you.”
It makes sense – after all, Magic has been a huge success off the court… and his business ventures have now turned him into a billionaire.

In fact, we talked to Matt Barnes about the ex-pro’s chances in Los Angeles… and he said it would be a great fit – so there are plenty of fish in the sea, Laker Nation!!
