By counter-attacking British military installations and equipment, both inside Ukraine and elsewhere, he warned her Great Britain Russia, if British weapons are used by it Ukraine for attacks on Russian lands.
Formal protest
British Ambassador Nigel Casey was summoned to the Foreign Office to be served with a formal protestafter Foreign Secretary David Cameron he stated last week that Ukraine has the right to use British weapons to harm it Russia.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said Cameron’s comments recognized that Britain was now de facto involved in the conflict, contradicting assurances that the long-range weapons it supplied to Ukraine would not be used against Russia.
“Casey was warned that, in response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory with British weapons, any British military installations and equipment on Ukrainian soil and abroad” could be targeted, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed.
The Russian ministry emphasizes that it considers Cameron’s statements a serious escalation.
“The ambassador was called upon to contemplate the inevitably disastrous consequences of such hostile actions on the part of London and to immediately refute the aggressively provocative statements of the head of the Foreign Office in the most decisive and unequivocal manner.”
What did Cameron say?
David Cameron, during a visit to Kiev last week, told Reuters that Ukraine has the right to use British-supplied weapons to strike targets inside Russia and that it is up to Kiev whether to do so or not.
Reuters was unable to contact British officials for comment.
