@VanityFair
AM says he actually gave us a better paying job in his youth to immerse ourselves in his craft – which was his passion – and when he broke this news to his father… he was rejected.
Alfred openly acknowledges that he let his father down – and you can tell that it weighs heavy on his heart, even today… because Al was fighting back tears when talking about it.
He also expresses regret for not connecting with his father while he was alive – saying that if he had lived a little longer… he would have realized that it was all worth it, as Alfred went on to have a decorated career – – both critical and commercially. Basically, he did it.
Alfred has turned out to be one of the most prolific actors in modern history – he has over 200 credits to his name and is one of the most recognized faces in the world.
Although Alfred never thought his father was following his career as it was taking off, he discovered when he died that he actually was… and the way he found out is like something out of a movie. It’s safe to say that Al learned valuable lessons for his own children.
Hear it for yourself… this one tugs at your heartstrings and more.
