Who can imagine the Champions League without Real and Barcelona? However, this could happen if the situation surrounding the Spanish Federation (RFEF) is not resolved quickly.
In crisis after the Rubiales case, the organization was placed last Thursday under the supervision of the Spanish government through a commission called CSD, to “rehabilitate the serious situation in which the RFEF finds itself, so that the entity can begin a phase of renewal in a climate of stability”.
This Monday (29/4), the Spanish newspaper AS reported that FIFA and UEFA gave Spain an ultimatum. Prohibiting any political interference in national federations, the two bodies wrote to the CSD requesting information on the nature of the situation.
The Commission therefore has until Friday to answer the following questions: On what legal and/or factual basis was the Commission appointed? What is its composition and who appointed its members? What is her exact command? What are your capabilities? What relationships do you have with the RFEF’s statutory decision-making bodies?
If the responses do not satisfy FIFA and UEFA, the operation of the RFEF may be suspended, which will lead to the exclusion of Spanish national teams and clubs from international competitions, such as Euro 2024, the Champions League, etc.
