The assessment that in 10, 20 or 30 years h Artificial intelligence will be significantly smarter than us, said Alvin Graylin, former president of giant HTC and now vice president of global corporate development at the same company, speaking at the AI Forum, held as part of the Beyond technology expo.
Graylin, who is considered a pioneer in the industry, highlighted that in this development we should react by saying to artificial intelligence “well done, keep going” and not be ashamed, he said characteristically, “just as we should not consider artificial intelligence to be a competitor, but our offspring and be proud, in the same way that our children’s success fills us with pride.”
He also highlighted that if we train AI systems well, they will treat us well, because “if you don’t treat a child well, they will behave badly”.
The beliefs
Graylin highlighted that a number of beliefs related to artificial intelligence are not true. For now it’s a tool, but soon systems will be able to do things on their own. It doesn’t make us dumber, nor does it kill us, as long as we don’t run out of data necessary for its development.
According to him, Artificial General Intelligence will become a reality and will not bring a dystopian future, on the contrary, if we deal with it well, it will offer us infinite productivity and mental capacity.
He noted that mitigating the risks of AI misuse would require funding the technology to detect and eradicate it, educating the public about the risks and benefits, establishing a global safety regulatory body, reskilling those who lose their work and make a joint global effort for its development, that is, to not become an object of competition between States.
