Andy Cohen has apologized for questioning Kate Middleton’s whereabouts and fueling rumors of an affair with Prince William before the princess announced her cancer diagnosis.
“I just want to say I’m heartbroken by the news about Princess Kate,” said the “Watch What Happens Live” host, 55. on the Monday broadcast of his SiriusXM show, “Andy Cohen Live.”
Cohen, who noted that the radio show was off air before Middleton made the unexpected health announcement, continued: “I think someone at Sky News called me ‘stupid’ during that whole conversation and they were right. .”
The Bravo boss admitted he wished he had kept his “mouth shut” before saying, “We are all praying for Princess Kate and King Charles.”
Cohen’s statement comes more than a week after the Princess of Wales, 42, revealed she has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.
“In January I had major abdominal surgery in London and at the time it was thought my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful,” she said in a video message.
“However, tests after the operation found that cancer was present. My medical team subsequently suggested that I should have preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”
Middleton didn’t reveal what type of cancer she has or the stage, but she shared that “it was a huge shock.”
“William and I have been doing everything we can to deal with this privately, for the sake of our young family,” she shared, referring to her husband, Prince William.
Middleton explained that she waited to share the news publicly so that the couple’s three children –– Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 –– could have time to “understand and process it.”
She closed by asking for “time, space and privacy” while she completes treatment, a far cry from the weeks of online speculation about her well-being following abdominal surgery on January 16.
Although Kensington Palace stated at the time that she would be out of the public eye until at least Easter, Cohen was one of many celebrities who spread wild conspiracy theories about her whereabouts.
On March 18, a video surfaced of Middleton and William strolling through a local farm, prompting Cohen to join web trolls theorizing that the woman in the footage was not actually the princess.
“That’s not Kate…” he wrote on X.
Later that week, the Bravo bigwig doubled down on his principle, stating on his “Daddy Diaries Podcast” episode: “These were not images from the farm stand. …The captions for these photos said that Kate was photographed last August, blah, blah. It’s a lie.”
During the same episode, Cohen spread unfounded rumors that William had an affair with girl Rose Hanbury.
“It all seems to come back to this woman, Rose, who he had an affair with — who he allegedly had an affair with,” Cohen said.
“Don’t forget he broke up with (Middleton) after they dated for years and sowed wild oats for a while and then got back together,” he continued.
Hanbury’s lawyers called the allegations “completely false.”
The “Daddy Diaries” creator even claimed that William is “his father’s son,” referring to King Charles III being dishonest with his then-wife, Princess Diana, along with his now-wife, Queen Camilla.
Royalty’s unmissable extra protection:
However, during an episode of his SiriusXM show, “Radio Andy,” he made a point of saying, “The most important thing is that we need your health and recovery. And that.”
The infidelity allegations, which initially surfaced in 2019, have resurfaced amid Middleton’s absence from the general public eye.
Stephen Colbert even joked about the rumors on his late-night talk show on March 12.
“The government was agitated by the apparent disappearance of Kate Middleton. Well, now Internet sleuths are guessing that Kate’s absence could also be linked to the fact that her husband and the future King of England, William, were having an affair,” he said on “The Late Show.”
The talk show host later said he regretted joking about the alleged affair.
