Another firefighter came and went from “Chicago Fire.” Rome Flynn, who played Jake Gibson on the NBC procedural, made his final appearance during the March 27 episode.
“Curtain’s name is Chicago Hearth,” Flynn posted on Instagram after the episode. Throughout the hour, Gibson became visibly offended after he began experiencing pharmaceutical withdrawals. After a nervous breakdown, he let Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) know he wanted to leave and go to therapy.
Selection confirms that he has left the show for now, but it is unclear whether he will return in the future. At the start of the season, showrunner Andrea Newman revealed that she was excited about the “phenomenal” actor joining the cast.
“He’s an electric presence and a force that’s very different to a lot of our 51-year-olds. He’s going to shake things up,” Newman said. Selection. “As a personality, there are a lot of layers to peel back on Gibson. He will be a fun new element to Rock 51.”
The exit comes shortly after Kara Killmer was written out of the show, leaving her to remain as Sylvie Brett in the February 28 episode after 199 episodes. Her character left after marrying Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) and moving to Portland, Oregon, to live with him.
Season 12 also began with the departure of Alberto Rosende, who only appeared in the first episode before his character, Gallo, moved to Michigan to be closer to his family.
“We love Alberto very much. We love this character so much, and he had a really strong run last season. There was something that felt like the Super Bowl, like the quarterback who retires after a Super Bowl – not that he’s retiring from the business, but his departure makes some sense because he had a strong season and as a personality, he developed a lot.” Newman said. “From a writing standpoint, it’s sad not to have Gallo to write, but like I said, it felt natural in a weird way. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
This season will also be the first for Newman as solo showrunner, as co-creator Derek Haas left at the end of season 11. Additionally, Season 12 marked the return of Taylor Kinney, who stepped away last season due to a personal matter. He is now back full-time on the collection.
“Chicago Fire” is produced by Universal TV in partnership with Wolf Entertainment.
