Billie Eilish is looking for artists to re-release their music in various types of hard copies – and although she won’t name names… many are looking at this as a chance to Taylor Swift.
The singer gave an interview billboard – and she addressed this problem bluntly… saying that there are many “big artists” who re-release all of their music multiple times, including on vinyl, and Billie thinks it is a shameful waste of money… not pointing out unhealthy surroundings.
She says… “Today we continue where, for some reason, it’s crucial for some artists to make all kinds of different vinyl and packaging… which increases sales and increases numbers and makes them more money and gets them extra.”
Billie continues… “I can’t even explain to you how wasteful this is. It’s right in front of our faces and people are just running away from it left and right, and I find that very frustrating because anyone who really goes out of my way to be sustainable and do the best I can and try to contain everyone in the my workforce are sustainable.”
She adds: “(And) then it’s one of the biggest artists in the world, producing 40 different vinyl packages that have a distinct distinctive factor just to make you keep buying more.”
Billie ends by saying that it irritates her that some artists seem to care more about their numbers – and their closing lines – when repeatedly featuring on this track.
If you’re not familiar… Taylor is famous for releasing multiple versions of her albums – something her fan base consumes each time. Other artists do this too, of course… but Billie certainly seems to be taking aim at T-Swift here, anyway, that’s the feeling.
In fact, Tay Tay is ready to do it again… releasing four versions of her new album soon.
Billie herself has also released numerous hard copy versions of some of her work – but she has gone out of her way to ensure that the vinyl records are made with recyclable materials and that the packaging she uses is environmentally friendly.
It looks like Billie has a bone to pick here… and many are perceiving this as a not-so-subtle dig at Taylor’s business model. Leaves you amazed… new steak alert???
