Allison Janney is joining the cast of Amazon MGM Studios’ “A Easy Favor 2.” The actor will be part of returning cast members Blake Vigorous and Anna Kendrick in the sequel to Paul Feig’s 2018 mystery comedy film.
The sequel will observe Stephanie (Kendrick) and Emily (Vigorous) as they head to the beautiful island of Capri for Emily’s extravagant wedding ceremony to a wealthy Italian businessman. Along with glamorous company, murder and betrayal swirl in a marriage with more twists and turns than the street that runs from Marina Grande to Capri’s town square.
Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho, Kelly McCormack and Aparna Nancherla will also reprise their roles in the film, which is targeting a spring production start. The cast is completed by Elena Sofia Ricci, Michele Morrone, Elizabeth Perkins, Alex Newell, Taylor Ortega and Lorenzo de Moor.
Janney, who has accumulated an Oscar, seven Emmys, a Golden Globe, seven SAG Awards, two Critics Alternative Awards, a BAFTA and an Independent Spirit Award, can currently be seen in the Apple TV+ series “Palm Royale” alongside Kristen Wiig , Laura Dern and Carol Burnett. Janney is also filming the second season of Netflix’s “The Diplomat” and recently wrapped production on Lionsgate’s upcoming comedic drama “All the Things’s Going To Be Nice” and the drama “Miss You, Love You.”
The first film, which grossed more than $97 million at the worldwide box office, was a commercial success for Lionsgate. “A Easy Favor 2” will be available to stream on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The script, which features characters by Darcy Bell, was written by Jessica Sharzer, with revisions by Laeta Kalogridis, Steve Yockey and Feig.
Janney is repped by CAA, Thruline Leisure, Peter Martin Nelson of Nelson Davis LLP and Slate PR.
