Dodgers superstar Mookie Bets it says TMZ Sports despite all the recent drama surrounding Shohei Ohtani and his former interpreter… LA is absolutely focused on the 2024 season.
Betts made it clear to us during a charity performance at Raising Cane’s in Alhambra, California, that the Ippei Mizuhara the gambling scandal is simply not a distraction.
“No, no, no, no,” said the shortstop. “We’re just focused on business. Taking care of business and that’s all we keep first.”
Ohtani told reporters on Monday that he and his team first learned that Mizuhara had allegedly taken some of their funds and placed illegal bets with them following the season-opening victory against the Padres in Korea on March 20. .
Mizuhara he was fired hours later …and amidst all the attention the news was getting, the Dodgers lost their next game against San Diego.
But check out the clip, Betts obviously doesn’t believe the two things are connected.
Manager David Roberts echoed similar sentiments earlier this week – believing that Mizuhara’s departure will actually help the team… as Ohtani will be more entrenched now that “there’s no longer a buffer.”
As for the scandal, Ohtani denied any involvement inside the case. MLB, for its part, says it is still investigating the allegations.
