Kenan Thompson says he feels sorry for the many who were mistreated while working as a child star at Nickelodeon that day — but he also makes it clear… he simply wasn’t one of them.
The comedian appeared on the ‘Tamron Hall Show’ on Wednesday, where he was promoting his film “Good Burger 2” – which, paradoxically, is a Nickelodeon production – and was asked what he makes of all the horror stories he appeared in ‘Quiet on Set’.
Kenan says, “It’s a complicated subject because it’s difficult for me because I can’t really communicate about things that I’ve never witnessed… Because all of these things happened after I left, mostly, and Dan (Schneider) wasn’t actually on ‘Kenan & Kel’ that time. way.”
He keeps saying Daniel Schneider may get credit as the show’s creator, but there was actually a different showrunner — in other words, KT is saying he didn’t take much care of Schneider.
Of all the alleged abuse and weird things that were supposedly happening to Nick – inappropriate jokes for teenagers and so on. – Kenan says: “I wasn’t really aware of a lot of it, but my heart goes out to anyone who has been victimized or their families, you know what I mean? I mean, I think it’s a good thing that the document has been released and is showing things that should be, you know, stories that should be told for this, for the sake of accountability.
He says it’s a hard thing to digest, because he personally has fond memories of his Nick days…even though several of his co-stars obviously had an unpleasant experience with the network.
Kenan is just the latest former child star to to communicate about the documentary – Josh Peck mentioned something last week, this because of your colleague Drake Bell detailing the abuse he suffered while working for Nick.
After all, there are dozens of other former child stars we have yet to hear from… big ones too.
