Kenan Thompson says he feels sorry for those who were mistreated while working as child stars at Nickelodeon back in the day – but he also makes it clear… he simply wasn’t one of them.
The comedian appeared on the ‘Tamron Hall Show’ on Wednesday, where he was promoting his film “Good Burger 2” – which, ironically, is a Nickelodeon production – and was asked point-blank what he thought of all the stories horror film that appeared in ‘Quiet on Set’.
Kenan says, “It’s a difficult subject because it’s difficult for me because I can’t talk about things that I’ve never witnessed… Because all these things happened after I left, basically, and Dan (Schneider) was ‘I’m not really into it’ Kenan & Kel’ like that.”
He keeps saying Daniel Schneider may get credit as the series’ creator, but there was actually a different showrunner – in other words, KT is saying he didn’t deal much with Schneider.
Of all the alleged abuse and weird things that were supposedly happening to Nick – inappropriate jokes for children, etc. – Kenan says, “I wasn’t really aware of a lot of it, but my heart goes out to anyone who was victimized or their families, you know what I mean? I mean, I think it’s a good thing that the doctor came out and be showing things that need to be, you know, stories that need to be told for this, for the sake of responsibility.”
He says it’s a hard thing to digest, because he personally has fond memories of his Nick days…even though many of his co-stars clearly had a bad experience with the network.
Kenan is just the latest former child star to he speaks about the documentary – Josh Peck said something last week, this in light of your colleague Drake Bell detailing the abuse he suffered while working for Nick.
Of course, there are dozens of other former child stars we haven’t heard of yet… big ones too.
