The NCAA matchup wasn’t all fun and games for the Utah Utes women’s basketball team…’ cause several players to have allegedly been called profanities and other “racial hate crimes” while at the team’s resort.
Utes head coach Lynne Roberts revealed the heartless acts following their second-round loss to No. 4 seed Gonzaga on Monday, claiming they had to relocate the entire team from their resort in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, because of the highly offensive treatment.

“We have had several instances of some type of racial hate crime in relation to our program,” Roberts said during the postgame press conference. “Extremely upsetting for all of us.”
“You know, you think in our world, in athletics and in college environments, it’s surprising in a… like there’s so much variety on a school campus and you’re not exposed to it often enough.”
Inexperienced CharmelleDeputy Athletic Director of the Utes, also informed KSL that strangers allegedly shouted the N-word toward them while the players, band, and cheerleading squad were heading to dinner at a restaurant, as well as after they left.
“We were all in shock and asked ourselves: did we hear that? All the people were in shock. Our cheerleaders, our students who were in that area and heard clearly were just frozen,” Green said.
“We kept walking, just shaking our heads, like I couldn’t think about it.”
Fortunately, the NCAA and Gonzaga were able to move the team to a resort in Spokane… and the Bulls’ athletic division released a statement saying they were “angry and deeply saddened” by the unbearable events.
The College of Utah filed a police report.
