On Tuesday, the Shondaland founder shared that her daughter has started watching Grey’s Anatomy.
“My not-so-little human started watching @greysabc for the first time yesterday. My brain is breaking. 🤯 I’m dead. DEAD. But I’m happy she’s seeing the women her mother raised. #GreysAnatomy,” Rhimes wrote.
Along with the caption, Rhimes posted a photo of her daughter sitting at the kitchen counter with a bowl of pasta while watching the series. The television producer didn’t share exactly which episode her daughter was in — or whether she was able to ask any of the questions that longtime viewers of the show have been asking for years.
Rhimes is mother to daughters Harper, 21, Emerson, 11, and Beckett, 10.
Gray was created by Rhimes in 2005. The 54-year-old executive served as showrunner, writer and executive producer on the series until leaving the show in 2015. In addition to the Emmy-winning series, Rhimes created How to get away from murder It is Scandal — all of which aired on ABC under its Shondaland production company.
In 2022, Rhimes admitted that her kids had never watched the medical drama and she was okay with it.
“My youngest daughters are 8 and 9, so they are too young to watch or even care, which is good,” she said. The hit medical drama, starring Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr., is arriving in its 20th season and showing no signs of slowing down.
Last year, Rhimes spoke to ETwhere she opened up about the right time to pull the plug on the series and when she’ll know it’s right.
“I knew how this story was going to end when we were in Season 6, Season 7, and maybe Season 10, and after that I gave up because I was going to write those endings and the show continued,” Rhimes said. “I’ll have the same feeling I had Scandal (it would end). I’ll feel like, ‘We did what we needed to do here.’”
