Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan thinks Aaron Taylor-Johnson could just paint the next 007.
During an appearance on RTE Radio 1’s “The Ray D’Arcy Show,” Brosnan shared his thoughts on reports that Taylor-Johnson would be taking on the long-running role.
“I think the man has the talent, the experience and the charisma to play Bond, really,” Brosnan said of Taylor-Johnson.
Brosnan starred as the British secret agent in four films between the 1990s and early 2000s, including “GoldenEye,” “Tomorrow Never Dies,” “The World Is Not Enough” and “Die Another Day.” In “The Ray D’Arcy Present,” Brosnan recalls working with Taylor-Johnson on the 2009 film “The Biggest,” produced by Brosnan’s Irish DreamTime company.
“One of the first films we made, one of the first films, was ‘The Biggest,’ Brosnan said. “And he was the best at it.”
“So yeah, I learned the news about his prospects for being a Bond, so I could definitely tip my hat to the guy,” he added.
Taylor-Johnson was considered one of the favorites to play Daniel Craig’s 007 role, with The Solar reporting on March 18 that he has officially been offered the role and is expected to sign a contract soon. Sources close to Taylor-Johnson, however, downplayed the report and said he was not cast as Bond.
In her Rolling Stone UK cover story, Taylor-Johnson refused to debate her potential casting as Bond.
“I can only really talk about the things I’m going to show and tell,” Taylor-Johnson said. “I really don’t feel like I should have a future mapped out for me. I feel like: no matter what happens to me, I can do better.”
