Sony’s “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” debuted at the top in the United Kingdom. and the Irish box office with £4 million ($5.1 million), according to Comscore figures.

Wednesday, March 27th will see the release of Trafalgar Releasing’s music documentary “Hate To Love: Nickelback” and dramatic thriller “Mom’s Intuition,” starring Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway, which Studiocanal is giving a wide release. Also getting a wide release is Universal’s “Kung Fu Panda 4,” starring Jack Black, Awkwafina, Viola Davis, Dustin Hoffman, James Hong, Bryan Cranston, Ian McShane and Ke Huy Quan, which will be released on Thursday and Warner Bros. “Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire” opening on Friday.
There’s plenty of competition on offer too. Metfilm Distribution is opening Singapore auteur Anthony Chen’s Sundance title “Drift,” Conic’s Berlinale winner Giacomo Abbruzzese’s “Disco Boy,” Utopia’s Deauville winner Sean Worth Williams’ “The Candy East” and the title of ICA Berlin “City Rabat”.
Fashionable Movies is releasing “Opus” with the late maestro Ryuichi Sakamoto, the Blue Finch Movie Releasing Venice title “The Origin of Evil”, the BFI Distribution Berlin winner “Silver Haze”, Trinity “We 12” with the boy band Hong Kong Cantopop Animation Mirror and Mirace/Dazzler “Little Eggs: A Frozen Rescue”.
Basic cinema aficionados will be thrilled with Studiocanal’s 4K restoration of “The Lavender Hill Mob” and Park Circus’ sixtieth anniversary re-release of “Mary Poppins.”
