Jenn Tran was chosen to be the first Asian-American ‘Bachelorette’ in TV history – something the first African-American ‘Bachelorette’ is incredibly proud to see come to fruition.
rachel lindsay — who made history as the first black lead in the ‘Bachelorette’ franchise in 2017 — told TMZ she’s very excited about the announcement … because, from her perspective, the show with an Asian in the driver’s seat is more than how meaningful and necessary.
With that said, Rachel isn’t patting ABC on the back – noting that it took over 20 years for this to happen, and indirectly promoting the idea that true love can only have one appearance.
She says, “Love is inclusive and it’s about time it reflects Asian representation.”
Rachel adds, “I’m so excited for the girls and women who will see themselves on screen to be adored and revered. They all deserve this moment and love. I deeply hope that the franchise will not only protect Jenn at all costs, but also allow her to represent fully embrace herself as an Asian woman.”
Jenn herself said she was grateful for the opportunity… adding that she felt Asian representation was lacking on TV and was mostly used to fill stereotypical supporting roles.
Now, however, Jenn is in the spotlight as the main character… and her journey to find love will soon begin. We’re sure ‘Bachelor’ Nation will be eagerly awaiting every moment!
