Citroën Basalt Vision reveals SUV coupe design of its latest product
Citroën Basalt Vision revealed, presents the new dimensions of the coupe SUV. The production version will likely be externally toned down. The interior will be revealed closer to launch later this year, with plans to hit showrooms this festive season.
The Citroen Basalt’s front profile will remind you of its current product line-up in India, from the C3 hatchback to the C3 Aircross and the range-topping C5 Aircross. The familiar design continues with Basalt. It comes with split DRL and headlamp setup with LED projector lights. The grille has an exclusive design and the bumper integrates fog lights along with a false protective plate finished in silver.
On the side profile you will notice a sophisticated design of black alloy wheels, which will probably be toned down with the production version, but if they offer the same size and style, it will look super attractive. The C pillar has a unique fold and the roof descends, integrating perfectly into the luggage compartment. The lower half of the body gets black cladding to add to the crossover’s rugged appeal.
The rear profile receives LED taillights with a wraparound effect on the body. It looks quite sharp with the styling and treatment of the split black bumper with silver faux skid plate at the rear as well. The concept shown here is painted in bright yellow and gains contrasting elements in black. Overall, the styling looks perfect and will attract a lot of attention on the road.
The C3-based crossover will be offered to the domestic market and will also be exported to other markets, including South America.
The production version of the Citroën Basalt will have the same 1.2-liter turbo gasoline engine as the C3 Aircross. This engine produces 110 hp and 190 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Citroen will not offer any diesel engine options with the Basalt.
