Jenn Tran is getting a second chance at love.
By becoming the first person of your ethnicity to earn this honor.
On Monday night, following Joey Graziadei getting engaged to cap off his run as the last Bachelor, ABC announced that Jenn Tran has been named the next Bachelorette.
Tran participated in the Graziadei season of The Bacheloralthough she was eliminated in week 7.
Said Charity Lawson when sharing this exciting news about who would replace her in this role:
“I can say that our next Bachelorette is someone smart. She is witty, fun and super kind.
“And personally, I want to see so much more of her and I can only hope that from this experience she’s getting ready to embark on, she actually finds true love.”
Jenn Tran — who will become this franchise’s first Asian-American star — then took the stage,
“I’m looking for someone who has a really big personality,” Tran said. “My goal is to have fun, to do those cheeky jokes.”
The New Jersey native said she was “overwhelmed” by the distinction, adding on air:
“It’s crazy. It’s so surreal sitting here.
“I hope to find my person, someone who I truly feel is 100% my perfect match and someone I am compatible with. Someone I can have fun with and also feel like we’re each other’s person.”
The Bachelorette will premiere this fall, and this is what potential husbands should know about the woman in the middle of it:
“This experience is absolutely crazy and all I can hope is that they really open their hearts to it because that’s what I did and I got so much out of it.
“You know, it didn’t end the way I wanted, but I grew and learned a lot from it… I really hope they’re ready to have a lot of fun.”
Tran also responded by making Bachelor Nation history as the first Asian-American Bachelorette.
“I feel so grateful and honored to be the first Asian Bachelorette on this franchise,” she told Jesse Palmer on Monday night, noting how she didn’t get to see proper Asian representation growing up and felt “boxed in” because she never imagined that could be a protagonist.
“And now, to be here today saying in this position that I’m going to lead my own love story, I’m going to be the main character of my story — like, I just can’t help but think about how many people I’m inspiring.”
What else should viewers know about the 26-year-old?
In a press release from the network, ABC described Tran as “a sweet, compassionate woman who has dedicated her life to helping others and is currently studying to become a physician assistant,” continuing as follows:
The bilingual Vietnamese beauty currently lives in Miami and is ready to find love with a man as trustworthy and caring as she is.
When not studying, Tran loves reading, paddle boarding and traveling whenever she can.
