In the calls, recorded shortly after her arrest, Ruby says that no one would understand that “children can be full of evil”, before saying “the devil has been after me for years and he is crazy as hell” and claiming that “the spirit ” instructed his “Your children will be eliminated” before it happened.
Audio from Ruby Franke arrest calls were released showing conversations she had with her ex-husband, Kevin Franke, shortly after his arrest for child abuse.
Both Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt were each sentenced to up to 60 years in prison earlier this year in Utah. Both women were arrested last August on child abuse charges related to Franke’s children, after Franke’s 12-year-old son climbed through a window of Hildebrandt’s home and confirmed that he was “emaciated and malnourished” from a neighbor.
Ruby and Kevin were separated from each other at the time of the arrest, with Ruby and some of her children living with Hildebrandt in Ivins, Utah, while he continued to live in the family home in Springville. He told police he hadn’t seen the children in a year. and had no idea what was going on when Ruby was arrested.
In a conversation between the pair on August 31, the day after his arrest, Ruby can be heard telling him, “You already know my heart,” before revealing the allegations against her. “This is very serious,” he replied.
“I feel strong, I feel calm,” she told him. “Adults have a very difficult time understanding that children can be full of evil and what is needed to combat it. You’ve seen what it takes to fight evil. It’s not the person you’re fighting, and it may seem like something it’s not.”
Ruby then instructed Kevin: “You’ve been there, you already know this. I don’t know any adult who can see reality. I’m cool with that, I simply pray you understand that.
She went on to cite the costs against her “witch hunt”, adding: “The devil has been after me for years and is mad as hell.” When asked if she told a detective this, Ruby said she wouldn’t say anything to the authorities without a lawyer – as Kevin reminds her that all her calls are recorded.
“Of course, that will happen,” she then replied, before being told that her children would be in the hospital for three days. “So bizarre that it’s simply not mandatory. They’re trying to expand that,” Ruby said.

Another phone call from September 1 was also released, with Ruby saying she and Jodi were “totally misunderstood.”
“She sticks her neck out for people and they get mad at her. It’s just horrible. It’s horrible. And you already know what? Every Joseph Smith, every great man of God had to be misunderstood,” she said, referring to the founding father of Mormonism. “Then I’ll get out of this. Possibly in 10 days I will get out of this, if the facts prevail. Or 20 years? I don’t know how long. I’m going to come out and say I went through everything.”
“I saw God’s children endure, all the people here, my cellmates were beautiful women, no matter how hurt they were. They were misled by medicine and my heart has so much compassion for them,” she continued. “I have compassion for the police officers, I have compassion for myself, and to be informed, I am suicidal, no, no, that is not true.”

Franke went on to say that before she was arrested, she received a message from God saying, “Your children will be eliminated.” She told Kevin she “just cried out loud” and exclaimed, “No, I’m not okay. I’m not ready,” before God tells him, “I’m accomplished.”
“Devil took away all the parts of me that I really like. And I’m a great lady. I don’t do naughty things. I don’t do naughty things. I’m a very good lady,” she told her husband, who then promised that he would “do everything he could to keep the truth in our home.”
“I’m dedicated to our family, I’m dedicated to you and our marriage no matter what. I will be here to help you in any way I can,” she added. A few months later, he would file for divorce.
A mountain of evidence was released to the public last week, showing police interviews with the two attackers and Franke’s ex-husband Kevin, as well as images of the two children abused after they were discovered by authorities. Get a full breakdown of this footage here.
Franke’s handwritten diaries were also released, in which the former YouTube star wrote that her 12-year-old son “wants God” and was “out of control,” while claiming in another that her son and youngest daughter have exhibited “deviant conduct”. See more of them here.
