Candiace Dillard Bassett is closing its ‘Real Housewives Of Potomac’ chapter! The singer announced her departure from the franchise in an exclusive to PEOPLE.
Just a little ‘RHOP’ context, Candiace joined the cast during season three and has been in six seasons since. This includes the eighth that was just finished.
What Candiace Said About Her Exit From ‘Real Housewives Of Potomac’
Bassett said PEOPLE that she’s grateful for how far ‘RHOP’ has brought her, but wants to focus on other goals.
“As we embark on a new chapter after six remarkable years with The Real Housewives of Potomac, I am filled with gratitude for the enriching friendships, personal growth and moments of introspection that have defined this journey. With a whirlwind of new opportunities and responsibilities ahead of me, I decided to take a break from RHOP.”
That said, however, PEOPLE reports that the 37-year-old has hinted that this may not be the end of her with the franchise. She called her departure “see you later” instead of “goodbye.”
Of course, she also took some time in her statement to thank her fan base for their continued support.
“Your unwavering support has been my guiding light and I look forward to the exciting adventures that lie ahead – and, most importantly, sharing them all with you!” she says.
A source confirmed to PEOPLE that Candiace made the decision to temporarily leave ‘Real Housewives Of Potomac’ on her own.
It’s unclear whether his pending opportunities are related to music. ‘RHOP’ fans may remember that Candiace popularized her music career on the show — even filming music videos alongside the cast. She released her first album, ‘Deep Space’, in 2021. Her first single, ‘Drive Back’, reportedly became the “song of the year” at the 2023 Bravos.
However, she recently starred as co-host on Angela Yee’s national radio show during a viral interview with Ray J. So maybe we could get a little more from hostess Candiace? Only time will tell!
