It’s time to go back to Forest Hills High School because a John Tucker must die the sequel is underway.
According to Sofia Bush, Arielle Kebbel It is Jesse Metcalfe – three of the stars of the original film – a script has been written for a sequel, almost 18 years after the first film debuted in theaters.
During a recent panel at a Chicago fan expo, the trio of actors addressed rumors and hopes for a sequel, which is when the 45-year-old Desperate house wives former student announced that a new film is in the early stages.
“I’ve heard rumors about this script – there’s a script,” Metcalfe told fans in a video posted on TikTok. “Apparently, it’s amazing.”
He added that while he hasn’t read the script, he would “definitely love to be a part of it.”
The original film was released in 2006 and also starred Ashanti, Penn Badgley It is Brittany snow. The film follows three teenagers – Heather (Ashanti), Beth (Bush) and Carrie (Kebbel) – who discover they are dating the same guy, John Tucker (Metcalfe). To get back at him, the three teens team up with the new girl at school, Kate (Snow), to publicly shame him for betraying them all. Badgley plays Scott Tucker, the nerdy and lovable brother of Metcalfe’s character.
After Metcalfe confirmed to those in attendance on Sunday that there are, in fact, plans to reunite the cast again for another film, Kebbel, 39, chimed in and shared that he had read the script and that it “involves everyone from the original cast.”
She added that Metcalfe’s devious character “may or may not have the chance to change” and that it could be “very exciting.”
“I have the chance to use a thong again?” Metcalfe responded, referencing an iconic scene from the original film in which his character manages to make guys wearing thongs look cool, much to the dismay of the women who were trying to humiliate him.
“We wanted to talk to you about this,” Kebbel joked in response. “We were thinking that you would actually create your own brand and endorse it. It would be a whole thing.”
“I’m here for it. I can’t wait to launch that dad bod on the big screen,” Metcalfe shot back.
In the video’s comments, hundreds of excited viewers shared their joy at the news and their hope that the sequel will be greenlit and that all of the original cast members will return.
“Screaming, crying and vomiting,” wrote one excited fan.
“The best movie ever 😭,” shared another.
