Kate Middleton’s uncle, Gary Goldsmith, shyly apologized for criticizing Meghan Markle, whom he nicknamed the “laughing woman”, in an interview with The Occasions UK.
Throughout the exchange – which took place before the Princess of Wales announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer – Goldsmith criticized the Duchess of Sussex’s marriage to Prince Harry.
“As many may have seen, I appear in Saturday’s ‘Diary of Occasions’. This interview and footage was conducted weekly in the past and was printed before I learned the sad news about my niece Kate, alumna of “Movie Star, Big Brother”, 58 years old. tweeted via X on the weekend.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Kate and the entire family at this difficult time and I am deeply saddened by the timing of this text,” he continued. “I hope this puts a lid on the continued hypotheticals and horrible conspiracies. Let’s give Kate, William and the kids time and give them some love again.”
Many took advantage of the response portion to evaluate Goldsmith’s feedback.
“Stop talking about them. Just stop. Stop using them to try to have a relationship. You are not in the know. This is the reason why you are not up to date on the subject. You keep talking,” one person insisted, while another wrote: “Should have kept your mouth shut – no shame in loyalty to you.”
Throughout the interview, Goldsmith called the “Fits” alumnus, 39, “fickle” and “dangerous to our nation.” He also said he was unaware that Markle had accused members of the royal family of making racist comments about the color of her son Prince Archie’s skin.
Although Markle and Harry never revealed who made the alleged comments, Dutch copies of Omid Scobie’s latest book, “Endgame: Contained in the Royal Family and the Fight for the Survival of the Monarchy,” claimed it was Middleton and King Charles III.
Royalty’s unmissable extra protection:
“That’s why I’m so outraged by what Meghan said about Kate. Carole (Middleton) and I grew up in a neighborhood as diverse as a Woolies pick-and-match counter,” explained Goldsmith. “Every culture you can consider. The idea that Laughing Woman says Kate is racist makes me furious. Kate knows her family roots and is satisfied with them. I’m sorry, but the Laughing Woman is not a good person.”
The Times UK noted that the interview was conducted before Middleton, 42, shared a video message in which she revealed that she is in the early stages of preventive chemotherapy.
“In January I had major abdominal surgery in London and at the time it was thought my condition was non-cancerous,” she said. “The surgical procedure was cost-effective. However, tests after the operation found that many types of cancer were present.”
In the wake of the news, Goldsmith also stated that he would withdraw from the closure of the UK’s “Big Brother” on Friday night.
“Following today’s information, I am unable to attend the movie star Big Brother wrap-up tonight,” he wrote on X. “I would like to extend my sincere thanks to my fellow housemates and everyone involved in the making of this great gift,” he added. “I hope you all enjoy your special night.”
