Robots are taking over more jobs traditionally done by humans… and artists better watch out too… because machines can paint just as well as flesh-and-blood tattoo artists.
Dillon Forte – a Texas-based tattoo artist with some serious celebrity chops – worked on a new tattoo alongside Blackdot… a tech startup that created the world’s first automated tattoo machine.

You have to watch this robot work… the client straps the arm to a table while a giant machine works on the limb, using fast working mechanisms to tattoo.
Forte and Blackdot each took on their fair share of the work for the project… cutting responsibility in half, 50-50, and making a design inspired by NASA and the science fiction book “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” “
Check out the photos… a series of symbols full of space references, with many images appearing on NASA’s Voyager Golden Record, sent in 1977 to give a vision of possible life in our world. It’s very difficult to tell the part painted by Forte and the part by Blackdot.
We’re told Blackdot tattooed the center portion of the ink, while Forte outlined it… adding her personal touch to the top and bottom. The difference is super small – definitely making you think about the future of tattoo artists.
Waiting for your permission to upload Instagram media.
Forte is a big name in the world of tattoos, in fact… he has painted big celebrities like Usher, Kat Von DIt is Chris Hemsworth — although we’d go out on a limb and say this might have been your weirdest tattoo experience yet.
We’ve all heard about robots emerging… but who knows, maybe they’ll follow Blackdot’s lead and take up artistic endeavors instead!!!
