Juan Pablo Galavis played the role of a proud father during Sunday’s final audition episode of american idol. The Bachelor alum’s 14-year-old daughter Camila Galavis auditioned for the ABC music competition and became this season’s youngest contestant.
The high school freshman introduced her reality star dad, telling the judges Lionel Richie, Katy PerryIt is Lucas Bryan“My dad, he’s a manager in the social media industry because he was on The Bachelor.”
After Camila revealed who her famous father is, Bryan joked to Juan Pablo: “He’s a dreamer!”
Of course, Juan Pablo made a cameo, participating in his daughter’s audition. He claimed he was hesitant about having his only son enter the world of television.
“She has been singing since she was little. The opportunity appeared. She wanted to do it and I said, ‘I don’t know if you’re old enough.’ That was last year. They said, ‘Maybe next year,'” Juan Pablo recalled.
Singing “Rabia” by Joaquina, Camila sang the track while Juan Pablo was seen looking like a true stage dad and mouthing along to the lyrics.
“You have a good voice. You seem a little young. You have a lot of personality,” Perry told Camila. “It’s very young. I’m just looking for some of those notes that can come out and really compete with the other competitors.”
Saying he loved Camila’s “confidence” and “personality,” Bryan praised Camila’s sound, noting that the pop tone of her voice was “very listenable.”
“I think your biggest obstacle is the big high grades that are still causing some problems. I mean, you’re so young. I just don’t know if you’re ready yet,” Bryan admitted, before backing off a bit. “Let me tell you something, I think the right producer right now could take your voice and record a hit album for you right now, but in this competition, I think you’re going to get swallowed up a little bit.”
Although Richie voted no to send Camila forward, Perry voted yes, saying, “The fastest growing genre of music is Spanish music. You are authentically that. So that’s a yes from me.”
It all came down to Bryan, who said, “I wrote ‘No’ on my page, but then I said the right producer could give you a hit song, so I’m giving you a yes, just based on that. Because you have a radio tone.”
While all the judges hugged Camila and told her she was going to Hollywood, Bryan reiterated, “You barely made it in.”
Proud dad Juan Pablo looked tearful as he saw the response to his daughter’s performance.
