Karen Pittman is leaving Is that so… On Friday, Max confirmed that the actress, who played Nya Wallace in the Sex and the City follow-up series, will not return to session 3.
“It was a joy to have Karen Pittman play the intelligent and impressive Professor Nya Wallace in the first two seasons of Is that so…,” a Max spokesperson told ET in a statement. “Just as we really enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, others did too. Due to her commitments to two other streamer series, it has become apparent that filming three series at the same time is not possible.”
“Due to the realities of production, we are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of Season 3 of Is that so…,” the statement continued. “We will miss Karen and Nya, and their Max family and fans will all be rooting for her in her other endeavors.”
In addition to AJLTPittman has roles in the hit Apple TV+ series, The morning programand the upcoming Netflix show, Forever.
Pittman has not yet addressed his departure. When ET spoke to the actress at the Critics Choice Awards in January, she admitted she didn’t know what was coming next on the series.
“I haven’t heard anything about Season 3,” she told ET at the time. “They’re keeping it really close, like, locked away. I think that’s a good thing, because people love this show so much and these things just spread in the craziest ways.”
She went on to praise The return of John Corbett as Aidan Shawand expresses love for her character’s storyline with Gary Dourdan’s Toussaint, noting, “We’ll see what happens.”
The news of Pittman’s departure comes a month later Variety reported that Sara Ramirez will not return your AJLT role by Ché Diaz. At the time, Max declined ET’s request for comment on the report.
Fans will have to wait until 2025 to see what Max has in store for the series’ third season.
