Dolph LundgrenIt’s not about recasting an iconic character – telling followers to introduce David CorenswetSuperman is an opportunity… even if he’s not sure who he is.
We caught up with the movie star in Los Angeles on Friday and asked him all about the end of the DC Universe – ‘memba, Dolph starred as King Nereus in the ‘Aquaman’ films – and he said he’s unhappy to see it end’ reason behind his good time involved in the film.
DL quotes some of his co-stars from the film before moving on to the outrage surrounding Henry Cavill being dismissed as Superman by Corenswet.
Lundgren says he doesn’t know David – by name or popularity – but he says fans are always up in arms when one of their favorite characters ends up being played by someone else… and they should give the man the opportunity to flex his superhero muscle groups.
It seems like Dolph isn’t very familiar with Corenswet’s work — and yet he’s very upbeat here, saying he’s rooting for DC’s latest Metal Man… which is pretty incredible.
That said, Dolph is very clear that there is one character he doesn’t need to recast… Apollo Creed, played by the late sympathetic Carl Weathers.
Lundgren — who played Soviet boxer Ivan Drago in “Rocky IV” and fought Creed in the film — says no one can change Carl. In front of Superman, although… there is, he says.
