Amanda Bynes isn’t interested in talking about her childhood past — especially for the Nickelodeon doc — because she simply hasn’t had a bad experience… TMZ has learned.
Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ… both Amanda and her parents – Rick It is Lynn – were approached about telling their stories on “Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” but we were told they all chose not to participate.
Our sources say Amanda — who we’re told hasn’t seen the documentary — declined to do an interview because she felt she simply didn’t have anything to share that would advance their cause. In other words, she didn’t go through what the ‘QOS’ guys went through.
On the contrary, our sources tell us that Amanda is grateful for what she was able to do with her start at Nickelodeon – as we’re told that she recognizes that it launched her career back then.
As for her parents… our sources say they are private people and wanted to stay out of the spotlight because of this. Unlike Amanda, we’re told they watched the documentary and were saddened and disgusted by the accusations.
But then again, we were told that the family unit as a whole hadn’t experienced what these other child actors went through while they were on the network… which is why it didn’t make sense for them to pose for it.
As we all know, Amanda starred in “The Amanda Show” from 1999 to 2002 alongside Drake Bell — Who revealed that he was abused by dialogue coach Brian Peck. Peck was also credited in a few episodes of ‘TAS’.
Some of Drake’s former colleagues – like Josh Peck who also appeared on “The Amanda Show” – has came out in the last few days …saying they watched the documentary and are lamenting the horrors their co-stars claim they dealt with.
In fact… one of the ‘Quiet On Set’ episodes focuses heavily on Bynes, including how she was discovered at the Laugh Factory in the mid-90s – so it seems a little strange that Amanda isn’t interested in peeking into the show… especially since she is a focal point in it.
Of course, it goes without saying… Amanda has been through her own personal saga – conservatorship, etc. – and after that, it becomes clear that she wants to leave the past in the past and focus on other endeavors. .including her flourishing career in cosmetology.
Amanda is much more discreet these days… and she hasn’t publicly addressed the doctor. Now, though, we know how she feels about it – and there’s no bad blood with Nick.
