“Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” dominated the Sport Audio Community Guild Awards, taking home seven wins, including Sound Design of the Year.
On Thursday night, the Sport Audio Community Guild presented 30 awards to top industry professionals at its twenty-second annual ceremony, honoring the dialogue, music and sound design of the year’s most popular titles.
The occasion was held at The Moscone Heart in San Francisco and was co-hosted by former IGN Vice President of Video Fran Mirabella and voice actress Morla Gorrondona. Entry to the event was free for those who registered.
“We are proud to recognize the greatest achievements in recreational music, sound and dialogue that we have accomplished since our first GANG Awards Show in 2003,” said Brian Schmidt, president of the Sport Audio Community Guild. “Coming together one-on-one to celebrate and recognize the achievements of your fellow Recreational Audio team members is an unparalleled experience.”
“Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” also took home the audio of the year trophy, as well as awards for song of the year, best original soundtrack album, best audio combination and artistic and technical performance in sound design. “Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical” from Summerfall Studio and Humble Games scored four wins, including best audio for an indie game and best music for an indie game. “Baldur’s Gate 3,” which also won four awards, scored home wins for best cast performance and best main theme.
Music industry veteran Steve Schnur, global executive and president of EA Music Group at Digital Arts, received this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
“While the term ‘Lifetime Achievement’ is something I never expected to hear at this level in my career, I am still thrilled with this award, proud to be recognized by my business friends, and looking forward to what I know will be an unforgettable evening with the GANG group,” Schnur said.
In honor of Bob Rice, former board member and 2005 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient who died in 2023, the GANG Recognition Award has been renamed the Bob Rice Recognition Award, given to the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
