All nine Star Wars The episodes are returning to theaters – together – for an epic marathon.
This year, in honor of Star Wars Day (also known as May 4), the nine “Skywalker Saga” films from Star Wars will be shown in cinemas. The films will be shown in chronological order — meaning they will start with the first prequel, The phantom menace (which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, by the way) and they’ll finish about, oh, 20 hours later, with The Rise of Skywalker.
(Imagine spending 20 hours straight at the movies and your reward at the end of it all is… The Rise of Skywalker.)
Those who participate in the marathon will have an exclusive view of the new Star Wars Disney+ series The Acolyte and a “special limited edition poster”. (Of course, all of these films can be watched directly on Disney+, and The Acolyte will be broadcasting there next month. But this is still a rather rare event.)

According to Star Wars. withThe nine films in the marathon, in order, will be…
- Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace
- Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones
- Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith
- Star Wars
- The Empire Strikes Back
- Return of the Jedi
- Star Wars The Force Awakens
- Star Wars: The Last Jedi
- Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
While I don’t love all (or even most) of these films, I’ve never had the chance to see them all back to back (back to back), and certainly not on the big screen. This opportunity… will be very difficult to resist. I think I have to do this?
Tickets for May 4th Star Wars Marathon will go on sale tomorrow, Friday, March 22nd at 12pm ET.
