Here’s what Alexa Nikolas said
Nikolas starred as “Nicole Bristow”, Zoey Brooks’ best friend, in the series ‘Zoey 101’ released in 2005. Brooks was played by Jamie Lynn Spears, per IMDB.
On Tuesday, March 19, Nikolas appeared to learn that former Nick producer Dan Schneider apologized to the former Nick team for promoting an unsafe work environment. In response, Nikolas launched a nearly two-hour live stream on YouTube.
According to Weekly entertainmentNikolas “called out” Schneider for issuing a public apology instead of a private one.
“When someone doesn’t come up to you in person and say they’re sorry, it’s not an apology,” she explained. “If you hear about it from other people, it’s not really an apology, right? An apology is for the person you hurt. That’s what an apology is for.”
Nikolas went on to call Schneider a “bully”.
“I would have appreciated it if Dan apologized directly to me,” she said. “He’s a bully, he’s mean and he impacted my life, right? …Where is a phone call apologizing? How can you do all this, how can everyone do all this, but not get to the person they hurt?”
Ultimately, Nikolas called Schneider a “privileged white man” who doesn’t know “what responsibility is.” Ultimately, the former ‘Zoey 101’ actor shared that she rejects Schneider’s apology.
“You don’t feel anything, Dan. You’re like every privileged white man I’ve honestly met on set. You don’t even know what responsibility is. You have no idea what it is… This is not the way… I would have preferred to receive a letter from you, for example, genuinely apologizing, than to have to witness the whole world watching whatever the hell this is,” she said . “I do not forgive Dan Schneider… This was not adequate accountability. This avoided many of the main discussions mentioned here in ‘Quiet on Set’. It was him playing the sympathy card, centering himself, playing the victim.”
Furthermore, Nikolas also reprimanded Bobbie K. Bowman, Nick’s fellow actor, for initiating the interview with Schneider.
HeWhat Dan Schneider previously said in response to ‘Quiet On Set’
As The Shadow Room Previously reported, the four-part docu-series ‘Quiet On Set’ featured former Nick employees alleging that Schneider fostered an unsafe work environment, sexualized children and was an “abusive” boss.
In response, Schneider admitted that watching the documentary was “embarrassing” and left him “regretful.” Nick’s former producer even apologized to his crew and acting team.
“Watching the last two nights has been very difficult – I have faced my past behaviors, some of which are embarrassing and which I regret. I definitely owe some people a strong apology,” he said. “…When I watched the show, I could see the pain in some people’s eyes, and it made me feel terrible and regretful and regretful. I wish I could go back…”
Schneider also apparently addressed the alleged “sexualized” work environment and content included in her Nick shows. He explained that, although he accepted the removal of some jokes in the present day, he never had complete autonomy to decide what content could be used in his programs.
Furthermore, Schneider even got emotional when talking about Drake Bell being sexually assaulted by a Nickelodeon speech coach and ended the interview by sharing advice for other entertainment executives who work with children.
