He added… “I definitely owe some people a strong apology.”
The former TV executive – who was showrunner for several Nick shows during that time – realized how his actions impacted those who worked for him. He says he would never do some of the antics he did on set today – explaining: “I’m embarrassed I did it. I apologize to anyone I put in that situation.”
Dan even agrees that some of the questionable jokes written for his kids’ shows should have been cut… insisting that he wrote the jokes with kids in mind – and that there was no ill intent.
Through his representatives, Dan denied allegations that the shows he oversaw purposefully sexualized their child stars – such as Ariana Grande, Amanda Bynes It is Jennette McCurdybetween others.
His spokesperson stated on Monday…”Everything that happened on the shows Dan directed was carefully vetted by dozens of adults involved and approved by the network. If there were any scenes or outfits that were inappropriate in any way, they would have been flagged and blocked by this multifaceted scrutiny.”
Drake Bell – who talked about being molested by Nickelodeon Dialogue Coach Brian Peck on ‘Quiet on Set’ – credited Dan as an ally after he spoke out about the abuse.
In the new reunion, Dan talks about Drake and Peck too…getting emotional while doing so.
He says he was devastated when he found out about Brian’s behavior… explaining that he didn’t hire the dialogue coach for the network, but he still regrets having him around. He even revealed that he helped Drake’s mother write her statement for Brian’s sentencing trial.
