Former High 8 ‘American Idol’ contestant Alyssa Raghu suffered several days of damaging publicity after she appeared to “hijack” her best friend Julia Davo’s botched audition, winning a golden ticket for herself — now, she is blaming the edit and offering you fact.
Two days after her best friend Julia Davo’s audition (which became her audition) went viral on american idolformer contestant (and returnee) Alyssa Raghu is setting the record straight about what she says really happened… but fans still aren’t sure they’re buying it.
Raghu is also alleging that the show used manipulative editing methods to make it appear as if she “entered the room with the intention of hijacking Julia’s audition.”

In a new video posted on his social media accounts, Raghu states that although “the episode depicts a story that ties two companions to each other, seemingly for the sake of punctuation and drama”, that is not how it happened.
She also said the backup alternative “perpetuates (the) dangerous narrative of locking women together.” She argued, “I think if I had been a male artist, this case would never have been edited in the same way.”
In the six-minute video, which Raghu posted for her TikTok It is Instagram reports, she offers what she says actually happened, compared to what the show announced during Sunday night’s broadcast.
According to Raghu, Davo brought up her name during the pre-audition process and it was the show’s producers who invited her to be on set “as a guest.” She then mentioned that she was unintentionally pulled into the audition room.
“While I was standing outside during Julia’s audition, a producer unexpectedly grabbed my hand, took my phone away from me and said, ‘Include me now,’” Raghu said. “Confused but confident, I followed her into the room.”
She said she was warmly received by the judges, who told her that Davo had not made it past the Hollywood Week competition round and then asked how his personal career was going. Raghu previously competed in 2018 and 2019, reaching the Top 8 in the latter.

“I told them that I have been working hard to improve my vocal skills and recording a lot of songs,” Raghu said in his new video. “And I even asked for advice on what to do next. The judges seemed genuinely concerned to see how I had grown as an artist since my last appearance on the show.”
“Seeing how they have expressed this curiosity with me, not as a test but as a strategy to reveal my progress and what I have noticed over the years and receive their suggestions, I asked if I could sing for them just for laughs,” continued Raghu .
She started to realize that she sang twice for the judges, as soon as she was seen on the program doing a Mariah Carey hood, and the second time on an authentic one. She also said it was her understanding “that anyone who is part of the live rounds is ineligible to take the test again.”
What she didn’t immediately respond to, however, was when she told the judges, as seen in the episode, “I’ve never competed on the show as an adult, so I don’t know if that’s out of the question. .”
“Wait, what are you telling me? Are you telling me you just want to audition for that season?” Katy Perry he responded. “Like, six years later?”
“I know it’s in your arms, but it’s, like, why not?” Raghu replied to her. This actually made it seem like she was the one who asked about the possibility of a test, although her version of the story was that she was under the false impression that everything would help Davo.
She also states that after her first track, Lucas Bryan made the remark that perhaps Davo could follow her and learn from her in Hollywood, with Davo interjecting to say, “If I’m on the show, I can learn.” At this point, Raghu and Davo were saying please, while Perry left the panel, looking quite uncomfortable about the whole thing.

According to Raghu, Bryan’s “shade” comment came from here in between her two songs, including her “prompted here to assume that my audition was not just for me, but rather to find a way for Julia to continue in this competition.” She said she was shocked when it was still a no to her friend.
What fans noticed was Raghu begging for Bryan after Perry said no and Lionel Richie mentioned for sure. “Luke, I would really love that and I would love to be able to show Katy at the same time, if that’s possible for you,” Raghu pleaded before giving him a second yes.
“The truth may be very far from everything that happened,” Raghu said of what was aired on television. “The editors reorganized the conversations and did not note essential details to create a false narrative of betrayal for the sake of controversy and scores. As you can see in this case, negativity generates much more engagement than celebrating our real friendship.”
On the way out, the show also showed a clip of Raghu offering to throw away his golden ticket. “This moment was important because we felt deceived about this situation collectively. She is my best friend. If she asked me to do that right now, I would still throw away the ticket,” said Raghu.
“Obviously, the show cut all the talk and left just a quick clip, and they permanently diminished what that moment really meant and how much I really care about Julia.”

Raghu concluded his message by arguing that the “precedence of the show was to create dramatic moments for the sake of leisure rather than addressing the journey and development of the artist.” She further argued that if she cared about the contestants, she would give Davo a ticket, which is not how it works. That call has already been made, and Davo certainly wasn’t the only contestant to be told no during the audition process.
“To the viewers, I really want to apologize for any confusion or misunderstanding caused by the way the show is edited,” Raghu said. “It is essential to know and not forget that reality shows prioritize the creation of dramatic moments and narratives to attract the viewer, even when this means distorting reality.”
“Producers and editors are able to create the story however they want and, unfortunately in this case, they chose to focus on a false narrative of a battle between two best friends,” he added.
Although Davo and Raghu shared detailed clips from their time together on the show, Davo did not weigh in on why the episode aired, nor did he comment on Raghu’s response. TooFab reached out to american idol to comment on Raghu’s latest video.
Fans, however, were quick with their responses, with many questioning why Raghu still seems to be participating in the show if she feels this way. Many also seem skeptical of her opinion, with one commenting: “Wow, like cycling again. If any of these things are really what you felt, then why do you keep doing the gift?

“Okay…but if you know how ‘twisted’ it is, then why go through with it???” commented another. “Even if the situation remains confusing and you accept it yourself, finding out that this may have increasingly been your best friend’s choice is a tragic choice nonetheless. you are such a talented woman and you might have auditioned for the voice or something like you had your chances at being an idol.
Still, another wrote: “No. YOU took the main focus away from your friend and her sole probability. And SHE is a much better friend than you: in fact, she won’t ask you to throw away the ticket. However, you must. IF she really is your ‘best friend’. You can share any clarification you want, but actions speak louder than words. How would you feel if the positions had been reversed?”
Raghu also had his supporters, with many applauding his “bravery and courage” in presenting his side of the story. “It’s shameful how reality shows now edit everything for drama and soundtracks,” wrote one follower on Instagram. “Thank you for bringing awareness and moving forward with reality.”
“Wow! I’m sorry you all had to go through this, but it’s actually not your fault since you didn’t know how it would be edited, you didn’t know they would do what they did, so it’s not your fault,” wrote another .” They wanted to take the story to a different level. And your whole friendship is incredibly amazing and stick with it because you’re all very talented, but reality shows are reality shows, so they’re going to do things the best way they want for roles. of leisure.
