When Mad Max: Fury Road came out, some critics noted that despite his name being in the title, Max himself (played by Tom Hardy) seemed to be a secondary character in the story of Furiousplayed by Charlize Theron, a battle-hardened warrior who rebels against her boss, Immortan Joe, stealing her beloved brides and trying to return them to the “Green Place” where Furiosa grew up.
Definitely the next Mad Max the movie is here and Max is nowhere to be found; the franchise is now focusing directly on Furiosa in a prequel about her youth. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga stars Anya Taylor-Joy like Theron’s character in her early days, and the trailer indicates it will reveal how she became that brutal, ruthless, incredible heroine who stole Fury Road of its titular hero.
Chris Hemsworth stars alongside Taylor-Joy as the villain, Warlord Dementus, which is definitely one of the best names for a bad guy I’ve heard in a while. You can see the two face off in the full trailer below:
