To stay motivated through it all, Paul relies on his loved ones to lift him up.
“One of the hardest parts of tennis is how much time you spend away from family and friends, so when I’m here I like to keep things simple. my friends. I’m a normal person, but I’m also a competitor”, explained the athlete.
“Now I try to spend as much time (relaxing) as I can, whether it’s at the beach, fishing, by the sea or at dinner. My girlfriend (Paige Lorenze) makes me home-cooked meals,” she added. .
The 26-year-old also recognizes the importance of alone time in his career.
“Before games, I like to sit alone. I turn off my phone. I think it’s powerful to be alone and alone with your thoughts before I go play,” the New Jersey native told the publication.
“Tennis is an independent, individual sport – your biggest enemy will always be yourself, but that’s also what takes you to the next level. There are a lot of doubts when you play an individual sport. You don’t have to blame a team – it’s all your fault “, he said.
“You have your support team, but you are the only one playing. That, in my opinion, is the beauty of sport – and I think it is the most beautiful sport in the world for that reason,” continued Paul.
As for his latest aspirations: “Winning is the most important thing for me right now, I like competing and I hate losing. … I want to win tournaments. I want to go home as a champion. , but there it is. I want to finish the tournaments with a victory.”
“Last year, every week I played, I lost my last match. I was ranked 12th in the world, so I did really well, but I didn’t make the top 10 – and that’s another goal, but I think if I win tournaments, This will help me reach the top 10, so my goals go hand in hand,” he revealed.
